We'll begin this tutorial, by creating a new canvas at a size of 300 x 155 using the color c52f01. Double click the background layer to unlock it for future editing needs.

Now right click on the background layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Color Overlay". |

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do. |

Now click on "Gradient Overlay". |

You may now click OK. |

You should now have the below image.

Now select the "Pen Tool" and draw the below shape using White as the color. |

Turn the Fill of this layer down to 3% get the following. |

|
Select the "Ellipse Tool" and draw a e22121 (Red) circle as I have done below. Name this layer "Sphere" in the Layers Palette. |
|
|
|
|
Now right click on the "Sphere" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Drop Shadow". |

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do. |

Now click on "Inner Shadow". |

Now click on " Gradient Overlay". |

You may now click OK. |

You should now have the below image. |

Next, create a new layer, then go to the main menu and select "Filter" then "Render" and lastly "Clouds". |

|
Change the Blending Mode of the cloud layer to Multiply and turn the Fill down to 74%. Now go to the main menu and select "Layer" then "Create Clipping Mask". |
|
|
Now select the "Brush Tool" and use the below settings with fcf059 as the color. |
|
|
Then create a new layer and start clicking on the canvas as I have done below. You'll notice that some of the speckles are smaller so you will need to change the brush size for the below result. Name this layer "Speckled" in the Layers Palette. |

Now right click on the "Speckled" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". |

Do not click "OK" yet. Still more to do. |

Now click on "Outer Glow". |

You may now click OK. |

You should now have the below image. |

Next, go to the main menu and select "Filter" then "Blur" and lastly "Gaussian Blur" and use the below settings. |

You should now have the below image. |

Now select the "Brush Tool" and use the below settings with White as the color. |
|
|
Create a new canvas and begin to drag out brushed areas as I have done below. Then turn the Fill down to 52%. |
|
|
Next, go to the main menu and select "Filter" then "Blur" and lastly "Gaussian Blur" and use the below settings. |
|

You should now have the below image. |
|
|
Now select the "Brush Tool" and use the below settings with 720804 as the color. |
|
|
Next, "Ctrl" click the "Sphere" layer in the Layers Palette to create a selection. Now create a new canvas and brush in some dark areas around the top and middle of the sphere. Then change the Blending Mode to Multiply. Drag this layer to the top of all the other layers in the Layers Palette. |

Select the "Ellipse Tool" and draw a Whilte oval as I have done below. Name this layer "Gloss" in the Layers Palette. |

Now right click on the "Gloss" layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". |

Now click on " Gradient Overlay". |

You may now click OK. |

You should now have the below image. |

I then grabbed an image that I thought would add some dimension to the sphere. |
|
|
Place your image so it is just above the "Sphere" layer in the Layers Palette.
Then "Ctrl" click the "Sphere" layer in the Layers Palette to create a selection again. Make certain that the image layer is selected then go to "Select" then "Inverse" and lastly "Edit" then "Cut".

Now turn the Fill of the image layer down to 17% and you're all done. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
