Alien Orb

We'll begin this tutorial, by creating a new canvas with the size of 340 x 184. Now select the "Gradient Tool" and in the options bar, click right on the gradient to edit the gradient itself. Use the below illustration for color usage and placement.

Now, with the "Gradient Tool" still selected click once toward the bottom left side of the canvas and while holding in the "Shift" key on your keyboard, click once again toward the upper middle right as illustrated below.

You should now have the below image.

Next, duplicate the gradient layer and then go to the main menu and select "Edit" then "Transform" and lastly "Flip Horizontal." Change the blend mode to "Hard Light" and go to next step.

Next, merge the two layers, duplicate, then go to the main menu again and select "Edit" then "Transform" and lastly "Flip Vertical." Change the blend mode this time to "Multiply" and go to next step. Now merge the two layers.

Now simply grap the "Eliptical Marquee Tool" and while holding the "Shift" key, drag out a perfect circle as shown below.

Next go to the main menu and select "Filter" then "Distort" and lastly "Spherize" and use the below settings.

You should now have the below image.

Next go to the main menu once again and select "Filter" then "Artistic" and lastly "Plastic Wrap" and use the below settings.

You should now have the following:

		Now right click on the alien layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Outer Glow".
			use settings at left
		Do not click OK yet... still more to do

		Now click on "Inner Glow".
			use settings at left
		You may now click OK.

You should now have the following:

The Results!!!

To get the below effect, I simply duplicated the layer, made invisible the new layer, and then merged the two. Then I grabbed the "Smudge Tool" and draged out some of the outer glow. I hope you like this tutorial.
